A Positive Option - Businesses 2

What can the Council do to attract businesses and keep businesses?

It seems that there are a lot of options that the Council can take to attract businesses. (And lest you forget - GRT is at stake).

Here are a few although the Council should be doing this work - maybe this will get them at least thinking.

Change planning and zoning laws. Allow for mixed use buildings. An example: Allow for running a senior living home- and a small cafe or a small flower shop.

Change planning and zoning to allow for small start ups in an incubation place. There is lot to say about incubation offices but it's a good idea.

Allow for flexible places such as places for food trucks. (Gosh isn't that place up in Los Lunas busy all the time with a variety of Food Trucks?)

There are other ideas - ask residents what they want to see in Bosque Farms. We all get a water bill put a note on there for input. Use facebook for positive instead of just posting complaints etc, ask residents what business do they want to see?

Just remember The Council CAN NOT legally and ethically vote to help themselves with their own business.

How Shocking

So this has been covered before. Let's hit the truth button for a minute.

This news blip doesn't show it because (a guess here) there was so much going on they could only show a snippet. BUT having sat there -

Councilor DeSmet started by interrupting the Mayor and then interrupting and questioning a person at the podium who was speaking.

The Mayor's job - by ordinance is to run the meeting. 2-1-2 A. (Go look it up yourself). This includes following 2-2-2 B. Meeting conduct. You are to be recognized by the Mayor prior to speaking and then you have the floor. Until then you do not have the floor.

These meetings are shocking and embarrassing.

Manners. Please!

There are THREE things wrong with this email but let’s just address this one!

DEMANDING

Is this appropriate? Is this an appropriate way to address anyone?

This email is to a Mayor, the Clerk/Administrator, three other councilors and part time person tasked with helping in a variety of ways.

Is this how you would speak to your co-workers? Is this how you would speak to your employees?

What has anyone on this list done that demands you speak or write to them so rudely?

Is it appropriate to DEMAND something when you are just a councilor?

The way this works is you are one of four votes. (One of five if there is a tie).

The Council takes care of the budget and votes on final decisions of hiring/firing.

The Mayor takes care of the daily Village business and sets up meetings and runs the agenda.

So since when did Councilor J. Bruhn get asked to set up a meeting with other agencies?

  • Hint - Ask at the Village for the vote on this item- Did the Council vote to have Councilor Bruhn set up a meeting with other agencies? Is there an agenda item that the Mayor asked for this help?
